Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State, expressed gratitude to God for thwarting the political conspiracy against him, News About Nigeria reports.
Speaking at a special thanksgiving service organized in his honor, Wike acknowledged that his achievements as governor were closely tied to divine intervention.
Recounting a significant event in 2018, Wike revealed that he had been poisoned while at the campaign secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This resulted in severe liver and kidney failure, which necessitated his medical treatment in Beirut, Lebanon.
Wike vividly recalled a particular Sunday in December 2018 when he was supposed to attend the thanksgiving ceremony for his former Chief of Staff, Chief Emeka Woke.
However, due to the poisoning, he was unable to leave his room and had to miss the event entirely.
Reflecting on the State Banquet held on January 1, 2019, Wike mentioned that he was noticeably silent throughout the occasion.
Instead, he delegated his deputy governor to deliver a speech on his behalf.
Unbeknownst to the attendees, the former governor was facing a critical health crisis.
Following the banquet, Wike’s condition deteriorated, prompting his urgent transfer out of the country.
Arriving in Beirut, he underwent a series of medical tests, and the prognosis was disheartening—his kidneys and liver had ceased functioning.
Further investigations revealed that the poisoning had occurred at the campaign secretariat.
Wike disclosed that his intestines were severely affected, appearing blackened.
Although the situation seemed dire, divine intervention played a decisive role in turning the tide.
Remarkably, God initiated a miraculous restoration process, rejuvenating Wike’s failing organs.
Within a week, he experienced a complete recovery, enabling him to return to Nigeria and resume campaigning for his second term in office in 2019.
Through the family thanksgiving service, Wike emphasized his profound gratitude for the divine intervention that had saved his life and enabled him to overcome the obstacles posed by his adversaries.
