Chelsea football club has officially announced the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager, as reported by News About Nigeria.

In a statement released on Monday, the club confirmed that the Argentinian tactician would be taking charge at Stamford Bridge starting from June 1, 2023.

Pochettino has signed a two-year contract with the West London side, with a club option for a further year. The statement emphasized Pochettino’s experience, standards of excellence, leadership qualities, and character, highlighting how these attributes will benefit Chelsea Football Club as they move forward.

It described him as a winning coach who has worked at the highest levels in multiple leagues and languages, with his ethos, tactical approach, and commitment to development making him an exceptional candidate.

The statement also expressed the excitement of the club owners, Todd Boehly, Behdad Eghbali, José E. Feliciano, Mark Walter, and Hansjörg Wyss, regarding the appointment.

They were quoted as saying, “The sporting team conducted a diligent and thoughtful process that the Board is proud of. We are delighted that Mauricio will be joining Chelsea.

“Mauricio is a world-class coach with an outstanding track record. We are all looking forward to having him on board.”

During his previous coaching tenure with Paris Saint-Germain, Pochettino led the team to a Ligue 1 title and the Coupe de France. The 51-year-old manager will be joined by his coaching staff, which includes Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino, Toni Jimenez, and Sebastiano Pochettino, as announced by the club.
