The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Wale Edun, has praised President Bola Tinubu for his administration’s achievement in increasing the minimum wage for Nigerian workers.

News About Nigeria reports that the minimum wage increase is a crucial step towards improving their standard of living.

Edun emphasised the importance of fiscal stability at all levels of government to support the implementation of the new minimum wage bill.

He acknowledged the country’s economic challenges but expressed confidence in the government’s ability to overcome them.

Edun highlighted the federal government’s initiatives to build a trillion-dollar economy and develop a billion-dollar business within three to five years, with foreign manufacturer involvement.

He stressed the need for economic growth that alleviates poverty, emphasising investment and savings as key drivers.

Edun also discussed the government’s concerns about food and nutrition security, particularly for children in their first 1,000 days of life.

Additionally, Edun mentioned the government’s support for micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises, including duty waivers and other incentives to promote their growth.

He commended the organisers of Loyola College Ibadan’s 70th-anniversary lecture for fostering a discussion that will yield positive results.

In his remarks, the President of Loyola College Ibadan Old Boys Association, Prof. Olufemi Ogunbiyi, highlighted the significance of the school’s 70th anniversary and the importance of giving back to its development.

He mentioned the various events planned for the anniversary, including essay competitions, career talks, talent hunts, and a gala night.

Ogunbiyi commended Edun for delivering the lecture, which demonstrates the minister’s commitment to the development of the school and the nation.
