Justin Timberlake Arrested For Drunk Driving

Pop star Justin Timberlake was arrested early on June 18, accused of driving while intoxicated.

News About Nigeria reports that the incident occurred in the coastal village of Sag Harbor, in the Hamptons, approximately 100 miles from New York City.

“Justin Timberlake was arrested in Sag Harbor for driving while intoxicated,” the prosecutor’s office in Suffolk County said in a statement emailed to AFP.

“He was arraigned in Sag Harbor Village Justice Court and released on his own recognisance,” the statement said, adding that Timberlake’s next court date would be a virtual appearance on July 26.

According to documents obtained by newsmen, Timberlake was pulled over by authorities, who noted that he “performed poorly on all standardised field sobriety tests.”

The arresting officer’s complaint described Timberlake as having “bloodshot and glossy” eyes, a “strong odour of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath,” and being “unable to divide attention.”

Additionally, the “Cry Me A River” singer exhibited “slowed speech” and appeared “unsteady afoot.”

Timberlake was arraigned Tuesday morning in Sag Harbor, as confirmed by the Suffolk County district attorney’s office. The DA’s office stated, “At this time, we have no further comment.”

The singer has been charged with one count of driving while intoxicated, along with citations for failure to keep right and failure to stop at a stop sign. Timberlake is expected to appear virtually for his first court hearing on July 26.

A spokesperson for Timberlake’s lawyer, Ed Burke, also declined to comment.

Timberlake has been on his “The Forget Tomorrow World Tour,” which began in April in Vancouver, Canada.

Despite the arrest, he is scheduled to perform in Chicago this weekend and has additional shows in New York next week.

The 43-year-old artiste recently released his sixth studio album, “Everything I Thought It Was,” on March 15.
