The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, labelling it a ‘catastrophic failure and disaster’.
News About Nigeria reports that the coalition made the remark in a statement released to mark Workers’ Day.
The spokesperson for CUPP, Comrade Mark Adebayo, stated that Nigerians are facing immense difficulties under Tinubu’s leadership.
The coalition described the current fuel scarcity as an example of the government’s ineptitude, stating that there is no valid excuse for the artificial scarcity, which is causing undue hardship for workers and citizens.
CUPP accused the Tinubu presidency of being marked by falsehood, incompetence, and the implementation of neo-liberal policies that only benefit the wealthy and powerful.
According to CUPP, Tinubu’s administration has exacerbated economic hardship, insecurity, job losses, and unaffordable living costs since taking office.
The coalition declared that Tinubu has become the biggest error to have befallen Nigeria and must be voted out in 2027.
“Tinubu has become the biggest error to have ever befallen Nigeria and must be shown the way out of the government house by deliberate electoral choice come 2027,” the statement said.
While extending greetings to workers on their special day, CUPP also commiserated with Nigerians on the immense hardships inflicted by the APC government. The coalition urged Nigerians to continue fighting for freedom from those who prioritise their own interests over the well-being of the people.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also slammed President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He said repeated tariff increases do not match the benefits Nigerians receive.
In a statement, the 2023 PDP presidential candidate accused Tinubu of “subsidising corruption and living in affluence while impoverishing the masses.”
Atiku noted that, despite promises and rhetoric from the government, the prospect of a wage increase for Nigerian workers remains elusive.
