Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has pleaded with Nigerians to exercise patience with the President Bola Tinubu-led government as he reveals that the president and governors were working effortlessly to mitigate the effect of the recent removal of fuel subsidy.
Making this plea while appearing on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Thursday, the Kaduna governor whose governorship election case sparked controversies in the media, said the leaders were taking preventative measures against the hardship being suffered by the Nigerian masses as a result of the recent removal of fuel subsidy.
“I am going to urge the Nigerian Labour Congress, TUC, and all other trade union leaders to give President Asiwaju a bit of time; he has good plans, and we, the governors, have good plans for everyone. So, we have to be very careful in the way we approach these issues so that we don’t make promises that we can’t fulfill,” the governor said.
His plea comes just as the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress fixed Tuesday, October 3, for the commencement of its indefinite strike action following the failure of the Federal Government to meet the union’s demand.
The union, which is asking for an increase in the country’s minimum wage to reflect the current economic realities, also wants the government to make provision for amenities that will lessen the hardship occasioned by the recent removal of fuel subsidy.
News About Nigeria recalls that President Tinubu on assumption of office as the country’s president immediately eradicated fuel subsidy. The move saw the pump price of fuel jump from about N180 to over N600 per liter.
