Tinubu Mourns, Sympathises With Families Of Jigawa Tanker Explosion

On Wednesday, President Bola Tinubu mourned the lives lost in the tragic explosion that happened in Jigawa State.

News About Nigeria earlier reported that in Majia Town, Jigawa State, the tragic incident left over 90 people dead and around 50 others with various burns after they attempted to scoop fuel from a fallen tanker.

Reacting to the tragedy in a statement released on Wednesday by Vice President Kashim Shettima on behalf of President Tinubu, the president sympathised with their families and loved ones.

In the statement signed by presidential aide Stanley Nkwocha, the president also prayed that God grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

Nkwocha announced that the federal government has provided immediate intervention for the victims of the tragedy.

The condolence message partly reads, “My heart aches for those who have had their families torn apart by this disaster. This devastating incident has shaken us all to our core. The Federal Government stands with the people of Jigawa. We are mobilising all necessary resources to support the injured and assist the families affected by this calamity.

“As we contend with this tragedy, let us also reflect on the importance of safety measures and public awareness to prevent such incidents in the future. Every life is precious, and we must do all we can to protect our citizens.”

The vice president’s aide further noted that his administration will ensure that the cost of fuel is reduced so as to discourage Nigerians from risking their lives when such accidents happen.
