Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday berated President Bola Tinubu over the hardship bedevilling the nation.
The former Vice President, who called the President ‘T-Pain’, a popular name that Nigerians have been calling Tinubu on social media, lamented the fact that he is unbothered about the sufferings of Nigerians.
Atiku also said that the president’s economic policies are anti-people, especially the removal of petrol subsidy.
The former vice president added that the rash removal of petrol subsidy by the Tinubu-led government has inflicted untold pain upon Nigerians.
He further noted that the inflation rate will keep increasing as the current administration lacks the wherewithal to stabilise it and restore the economy.
Speaking in a post on his official X account on Thursday, Atiku said, “The haphazard and disingenuous approach of the current administration to fuel subsidy management has been the reason we are in this current economic crisis in the country.
“As things stand, there will be no let up in the escalating inflation rate, which is drowning the material well-being of Nigerians. It is even more worrying that T-pain is undisturbed by the hardship in the country,” he added.
News About Nigeria reports that the former vice president said this in response to yesterday’s (Wednesday) hike in fuel prices in the country.
Recall that Nigerians were on Wednesday morning greeted with the news that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) retail outlets adjusted the pump price of petrol in Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, to N998 and N1,030, respectively.
