Borno Flood: First Lady Sends Relief To Victims 

Following the flood that ravaged major parts of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, including public and privately owned properties, the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated N500 million to the victims.

News About Nigeria reports that the wife of the president made the donation after visiting Maiduguri to commiserate with the Borno State government over the flood that affected over two million residents.

Senator Oluremi, who was represented by the wife of the vice president, Nana Kashim Shettima, went with an entourage that included; wives of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Deputy Senate President, Lagos and Yobe state governors, wives of ministers, and other presidential aides to Maiduguri.

On reaching Maiduguri, the delegation first stopped at the Shehu of Borno’s palace to commiserate with him over the flood that affected his palace and environs.

After that, they went to the state Government House where the governor, Babagana Zulum, Borno State National Assembly members, the Speaker of the state assembly, and other state executive council members received them.

Delivering an address on behalf of the First Lady, Nana Shettima eulogised Governor Zulum for his resilience in governance.

She also commiserated with the government and people of the state on behalf of the First Lady before proceeding to make a donation of N500 million for the victims.

The wife of the vice president also pledged the First Lady’s commitment to the flood victims especially women and children, adding that they will not relent until they all return back to their homes.
