The Jigawa State Government has announced a public holiday on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, to commemorate Eid-el-Maulud, the birth of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.), News About Nigeria reports.
This declaration was made in a statement issued by the Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri, and communicated through his Public Relations Officer, Ismail Ibrahim Dutse.
Alhaji Dagaceri confirmed that the holiday, aligning with 14th Rabi’ al-Awwal, 1446AH, will be observed as a work-free day to honour the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.
On behalf of Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi, Dagaceri extended congratulations to Muslims in Jigawa and nationwide.
“I write to inform you that the government has declared 14th Rabi’ al-Awwal, 1446AH (17th September, 2024) as a work-free day to celebrate the birthday (Maulud Nabiy) of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W),” the Head of Service stated.
He encouraged residents to use the day for reflection and prayers, seeking divine protection and guidance for the state’s leadership and for the continued peace and prosperity of the nation.
Yesterday, the Federal Government announced Monday, September 16, 2024, as a public holiday in observance of Eid-ul-Mawlid, the celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.
In a statement shared on Friday in Abuja by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister extended his congratulations to the Muslim community in Nigeria and abroad.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo called on Muslims and all Nigerians to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience.
He also urged the Muslim Ummah to use the occasion as a time for prayers, seeking peace, prosperity, and unity for the nation.
