Reno Omokri has advised married couples on how to deal with their in-laws in order to avoid friction and stay happy, News About Nigeria reports.
He gave this advice in a statement via his verified handle on X on Wednesday
The special adviser to former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan noted that couples do not need to be overly nice to their in-laws but should maintain diplomacy in relating with their in-laws to avoid their in-laws being problematic for them.
He stated that failure to manage in-laws very well can cause damage to marriage, adding that it is good to always maintain safe distance.
The self-acclaimed ‘table shaker’ further advised couples to sometimes, pretend they did not hear things said by their in-laws, as it can lead to tension in the home.
According to him, an in-law can become an outlaw if you always point out their flaw.
He wrote, “Be diplomatic with your in-laws, or they will be problematic for you. Don’t be nice to them, and don’t be nasty to them. Just keep a healthy distance, and when you meet them, maintain a friendly stance. Manage your in-laws well, or they will damage your marriage well.
“Hear things and pretend you did not hear. You can react to what others say and do, and it won’t create tension in your home. But if you do that with your in-laws, your mansion may suffer from commotion.
“And remember, an in-law can become an outlaw if you always point out their flaw! Sometimes, ignore them so you don’t ignite a problem.”
