Ekiti Govt To Spend N4.15bn On Road Construction, Others

The Ekiti State Government has approved N4.15 billion for the execution of projects including road rehabilitation, renovation of the House of Assembly complex, agriculture, and construction of hostels, News About Nigeria reports. 

The Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

He noted that the State Executive Council made the approval on Monday, August 26.

Olatunbosun stated that in a bid to ensure the state’s roads are well-maintained and motorable, the SEC approved an N2.71 billion contract to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation for the rehabilitation of De-Head to Faglo, Basiri Junction Road, Ado Ekiti.

According to him, the rehabilitation will alleviate the traffic faced by motorists and boost socio-economic activities, among other benefits.

He added that the job is expected to be completed in 12 months.

“Rehabilitation of the road is expected to alleviate traffic congestion around Adebayo to Ekiti State University in Ado Ekiti, boost socio-economic activities in the area and enhance the security and quality of life for residents and property owners along the road.

“The state government approved N701m to comprehensively renovate and remodel the State House of Assembly Complex and the House of Assembly Service Commission building.

“The contract will ensure the Assembly and HASC structures are restored to a modern and functional state, conducive to effective discharge of legislative duties and administrative functions, and it was awarded to ClemCharles Nigeria Limited and is expected to be completed in 12 weeks.

“The SEC also approved N229m to procure tractors and other farm machinery including three 5075E(75HP) Tractors, three Fieldking 3 Disc Plough, one Fieldking 22 Disc Harrow and two Fieldking Ridger 2 Row,” the statement reads in part.
