The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that 1,850 corps members will be deployed to the Gombe State Orientation Camp for the 2024 Batch “B” Stream II orientation course, News About Nigeria reports.
The Head of the Public Relations Unit, Jennifer Laha, disclosed this in a statement, on behalf of the State Coordinator, Chinwe Nwachuku, on Monday.
She noted that no fewer than 1,850 prospective corps members are expected to undertake the exercise, adding that the formal opening and swearing-in ceremony will take place on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 10:00 am.
She also urged residents and the host community to provide the necessary assistance and peaceful coexistence the state is known for.
“In Gombe State, the programme is scheduled to take place at the NYSC temporary orientation camp, Government Science Technical College, Amada, Akko Local Government Area, with a total of 1,850 prospective corps members deployed to the state.
“The Executive Governor of Gombe State, His Excellency Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya CON, is expected to preside over the event, while the Chief Judge of Gombe State, Justice Halima Mohammed, will administer the Oath of Allegiance to the corps members deployed to the state for national service.
“Prospective corps members are to be aware that registration will commence on Wednesday, 28th August, and continue through to Friday, 30th August 2024, with the cut-off at midnight on Friday, 30th August 2024.
“As usual, we encourage the peace-loving people of Gombe State, especially those in and around Akko LGA and its environs, to extend the customary hospitality and peaceful coexistence for which Gombe State is renowned,” the statement reads.
