President Bola Tinubu has appointed Esther Walson-Jack as the new Head of Service of the federation.
News About Nigeria reports that she was sworn in before the Federal Executive Council meeting on Monday.
In a previous statement on July 17, Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesperson, said her appointment will take effect on August 14.
Esther Walson-Jack’s appointment takes effect on August 14, replacing Folasade Yemi-Esan, who retires on August 13.
Yemi-Esan’s retirement marks the end of her civil service career.
Esther Walson-Jack has had a distinguished career, serving as a Federal Permanent Secretary since 2017 and working in various ministries.
She brings a wealth of experience to her new role as Head of Service.
President Tinubu praised the outgoing Head of Service for her dedication and urged Walson-Jack to bring innovation, integrity, and a strong work ethic to her new position.
He emphasised the importance of following civil service rules and regulations.
Esther Walson-Jack has an impressive educational background, holding a law degree from the University of Lagos and being called to the bar in 1987.
Before joining the federal civil service, she worked in Bayelsa state as solicitor-general and permanent secretary of the ministry of justice.
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, expressed appreciation to Tinubu over the appointment of seasoned administrator, Dame Didi Esther Walson-Jack, as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
He noted that since her remarkable career in the Civil Service, culminating in her appointment as a Permanent Secretary in 2017, she has shown exemplary leadership, high level of integrity, courage, perseverance, and resilience, saying that Dame Didi Esther Walson-Jack’s distinguished and exceptional public service career will inspire many young girls in the State to strive to achieve great heights in their life.
