The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has expressed its commitment to safeguarding the lives and properties of citizens ahead of the Sallah celebration, News About Nigeria reports.

The FCT Commandant, NSCDC, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, made this known on Thursday in FCT.

In a statement issued by the spokesperson of the command, Samuel Idoko, the commandant deployed 5,112 NSCDC personnel across the state to safeguard residents and visitors during the festive period, adding that the deployment spans all six area councils, the city centre, and other crucial locations vulnerable to criminal activities.

He also noted that the Defence Corps has intensified security measures ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations in the Federal Capital Territory.

“The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Capital Territory Command, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, has deployed 5,112 personnel to beef up security in the FCT before and during the Sallah celebration.

“The Corps is committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property of residents and the protection of critical national assets in the FCT.

“You are to ensure 24-hour protection of all these infrastructures and the holidaymakers in the city. We must show commitment in the discharge of our duties as law enforcers.

“However, there is no room for carelessness or overzealousness while carrying out your duties and the operational order must be followed to ensure professionalism on your part,” the statement reads in part.

Specialised units, including the Armed Squad, intelligence operatives, Counter Terrorism Unit, Female Strike Force, Special Crack Squad (operation Adaka-su), and Agro Rangers, have also been mobilised to bolster security operations across the FCT.
