Sanusi Hails Abia Gov For Forming Economic Council

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has extended a warm congratulations to His Royal Highness, Muhammad Sanusi II, on his reported reinstatement as the Emir of Kano.

This development follows the passage of a new law by the Kano State House of Assembly, which abolished the four additional emirates created in 2019, News About Nigeria reports.

Sanusi, the former Central Bank Governor, is currently in Rivers State as the distinguished keynote speaker at the ongoing Rivers State Economic and Investment Summit.

Fubara noted that Sanusi’s reinstatement by the Kano State Government is a testament to the fact that his dethronement on March 9, 2020, was against the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kano State. He described the act as “an unjust act to the millions of people who believed in his reign while on the revered throne.”

The Governor commended the Kano State Government for listening to the people’s yearnings and acting to correct the wrongs of the past.

He also urged Emir Muhammad Sanusi II to lead the over 50 million adherents of the Sufi order in Nigeria with love, wisdom, and courage, while bringing lasting peace, justice, equity, and fairness to all in the city of Kano.

“I wish the 14th Emir of Kano a successful and fruitful reign that will bring progress and prosperity to the people of the State,” Fubara added.

The Kano State House of Assembly on Thursday abolished the four additional emirates created in 2019 by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s administration.

According to sources, Sanusi is scheduled to return to Kano on Friday, and with the bill’s passage, he will automatically be reinstated as Emir.

Although no official announcement has been made, sources added that the only remaining step is for the governor to give his assent to the bill.
