Agencies Under Tinubu's Government Now Organising Meeting About Me – Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential flagbearer for the 2023 general election, stated that helping Nigerians escape hardship is his main goal rather than competing for power, News About Nigeria reports.

Obi said this in response to allegations against him that he is desperate to become the president of Nigeria.

The attack against the former Anambra State Governor started after he criticised the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project by the President Bola Tinubu-led government.

Obi had advised that instead of focusing on the project, it is wise for the current administration to focus on rebuilding the many dilapidated Federal roads in the country.

However, some Nigerians on social media trolled him, saying that he was only after becoming president in 2027.

Speaking to newsmen on the issue today in Abuja, the former governor noted that, contrary to some opinions on social media, he has the mandate of ensuring that he pulls Nigerians out of hardship.

Obi further lamented that many Nigerians often go to bed hungry because they cannot afford what to eat.

He, therefore, called on the government of the day to focus on catering for the people instead of embarking on unrealistic projects, noting that this is what he is after as a politician.

He said, “I have said it several times that I am not desperate to become the president of Nigeria. But I am desperate to see the poor and less privileged Nigerians being pulled out of their difficult situation daily. That is what I am desperate to see. When I see children suffering, it increases my pain. This is not about the campaign.”
