APC Accuses PDP Of Plot To Rig Oyo State LG Poll

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has revealed an alleged plot by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to compromise the electoral process and manipulate results in favour of its candidates in the upcoming council poll.

According to the APC, the PDP and some individuals with vested interests are refusing to embrace democratic culture and decency, instead resorting to force, intimidation, and fraudulent practices to win elections, News About Nigeria reports.

The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has scheduled the council poll for next Saturday.

The APC has come out to accuse the PDP of boasting about its plans to write results rather than allowing votes to count.

In a statement, Oyo APC Publicity Secretary Olawale Sadare revealed that the party has uncovered fresh plots by a cartel of desperados in the Agodi Government House to rig the poll in favour of the PDP.

The alleged plots include influencing electoral officers to work with doctored voter registers, deploying characters from the Park Management System (PMS) to aid vote buying and intimidate voters, and forcing PDP members on OYSIEC as Ward Collation Officers to frustrate seamless collation of results.

The statement added, “As it stands now, all eyes are on our dear state, and Gov. Makinde cannot afford to renege on his promise to deliver a free, fair, and credible poll this time around.

“Another fact to consider is that any attempt to prevent the good people of the state from voting their conscience and rescue the third tier of government from total collapse this Saturday would not augur well for democracy in the country.

“Therefore, we appeal to all stakeholders, particularly OYSIEC and security agents to be alive to their responsibility before, during, and after the Saturday poll since it means so much to the entire citizenry.”
