Reps To Create Balance For State Police

Three street gang members, identified as Shamsu Abdullahi, Hussaini Aliyu, and Muhammad Ahmed, have been charged to court by officers of the Kaduna State Police Command, News About Nigeria reports.

The Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this to newsmen in the state capital on Wednesday.

He noted that the gang members, who were arrested on Tuesday by operatives on routine patrol, have been terrorising residents of the Basawa Area of Sabon Gari Zaria LGA.

“At about 1600 hrs,  the operatives were on routine patrol and arrested the three suspects, namely, Shamsu Abdullahi, Hussaini Aliyu, and Muhammad Ahmed all of Zaria City, and within the vicinity of Mammy Market in the Basawa area,” he stated.

He further noted that when a spot search was conducted on the suspects, dangerous weapons were found and recovered, including three sharp stainless steel cutlasses, one fork, and a sharp knife that was concealed under their clothes.

According to him, the suspects had been unable to give salient reasons as to why they had the weapons upon interrogations.

Hassan stated that investigations conducted by the operatives revealed that the gang was members of a syndicate that had been terrorising residents of Basawa and its environs for a long time and had been under the radar of the Command for some time now.

The PPRO stressed that the three suspects were promptly charged in court for prosecution, following these discoveries.

He, however, urged the youths and others in the state to stay away from crime, maintaining that anyone caught will not be spared and will face the full wrath of the law.
