Aisha Galadima, an ally to the former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai who was arrested by the Department of State Security (DSS), has been set free.

Aisha Galadima, a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kaduna, was arrested due to a Facebook post criticising Governor Uba Sani, News About Nigeria reports.

She spoke against Sani’s recent comments about Nasir El-Rufai.

Sources say Galadima was taken by the DSS from her home in Tudun Wada, Kaduna, on Sunday afternoon. Her phone was turned off after the arrest.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson of the Kaduna State Government, Muhammad Lawal Shehu, said he didn’t know about the arrest and had suggested asking the DSS for more details.

Galadima was questioned by the DSS for about 24 hours before being released.

When questioned, Galadima confirmed her release, stating that she was harassed and beaten during her time in custody.

“I was inside my room about to take my bath when they came in and dragged me out. I saw four of their Hilux outside the gate. They pushed me inside and drove away,” she said.

She said the DSS accused her of making posts against the governor back in February.

Recall that Governor Sani had recently expressed concern about the huge debt left behind by the previous administration.

He said El-Rufai left behind debts to the tune of $587 million, N85 billion, and N115 billion in contractual obligations.

In response, Galadima criticised the governor for his remarks.

Bashir El-Rufai, the son of the ex-governor, also accused Sani of surrounding himself with incompetent aides.

He said Sani has resorted to deflecting blame by raising alarm on the debt burden.
