Actor Jerry Amilo Explains Why He Posted Junior Pope's Corpse On Social Media

Following backlash from his colleagues and netizens, Nollywood actor Jerry Amilo has deleted the video he posted showing the body of the late Junior Pope who died in a boat accident.

Checks by News About Nigeria on his Facebook page where the video was posted shows that it has been deleted by the actor.

Recall that Pope died in a boat accident that happened on Wednesday when he and other crew members were returning from a movie set.

The actor was pronounced dead after attempts to resuscitate him proved abortive.

Following confirmations of his death, the deceased actor’s colleague, Amilo, who was with the national president of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Emeka Rollas at the hospital where Pope was confirmed dead shared a video clip of the actor lying lifeless on the hospital bed with cotton wool in his nose via his official Facebook page.

The video, however, sparked reactions among Nigerians as many including his colleagues berated him for posting such online.

Notable of such criticism is that of his colleague Prince Eke who tagged the actor ‘an insensitive old man with no shame’.

Eke had further accused him of posting the video on his Facebook page because he wanted to generate income from it since his account was monetized.

Following the backlash, Jerry Amilo was forced to take down the video.

Although he has deleted it from his page, the video is still circulating on various social media platforms as many had already saved and reposted it before he brought it down.
