Nigeria’s richest woman, Folorunsho Alakija, has separated from her husband, Modupe Alakija, after 3 decades of marriage, News About Nigeria reports.
This was disclosed by THEWILL, who revealed that the mother of four and former society matriarch separated from her husband due to irreconcilable differences.
The couple were alleged to have been having frequent squabbles, which allegedly necessitated the wealthy woman demanding the utmost privacy in her home in Ikoyi, Lagos State, forcing her husband, Modupe, to seek accommodation elsewhere.
According to the report, he lives alone within the same Ikoyi neighbourhood, and calls and text messages made to reach him have gone unanswered.
THEWILL also revealed that sources close to the couple noted that it has not all been smooth sailing for the couple these past few years, stating that they have allegedly been forced to put up a united front because of their status in society.
This development is coming after a discreet wedding for one of the Alakija’s sons, which was said to have been a harbinger of the internal struggles within the family.
The event was marked by an unusual level of privacy and control over media presence, a contrast from the lavish celebrations traditionally associated with the Alakija family. Guests were meticulously vetted, and photographers found themselves restricted in a way that underscored a desire to keep personal matters away from public scrutiny
