Edo: Ighodalo Kicks As Shaibu Accuse Him Of Being Part Of His Impeachment

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming Edo governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024, Asue Ighodalo, said on Tuesday that he is sure of victory in the election.

Ighodalo said this when he received his Certificate of Return from the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) today.

News About Nigeria had reported that Ighodalo was declared the winner of the PDP primary election, which took place last Thursday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

According to the result of the election, Ighodalo became the PDP flagbearer by polling 577 of the 585 accredited votes, defeating nine other aspirants, including the incumbent deputy governor of the state, Philip Shaibu.

While presenting the certificate of return to Ighodalo at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja, the party’s National Chairman, Umar Damagum, noted that he is glad that the party made the right choice.

He further stated that the PDP is confident that they will remain in power in Edo State.

On his part, Ighodalo appreciated the party for the confidence they have in him, promising to transform Edo state into a first-world economy if elected as governor.

He also called on other aspirants and members of the party to partner with him in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

In his own words, “The contest is over. Let’s come together as one. We need to work together as one team. We must unite to retain our seat at Osadebe Avenue and drive the progress of our state.”

“I promise that this ticket is for all of us. I will take your advice; we will work together in the interest of our people. You’re all great men and women with varying capabilities and capacities. We will bring these capabilities together to move our state forward.”
