NiMet Predicts 3-Day Thunderstorms, Rains 

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather outlook, predicting haziness and cloudiness across the country from Monday to Wednesday.

According to the forecast released on Sunday in Abuja, the northern and north-central states are expected to experience moderate dust haze with a horizontal visibility range of 2km to 5km.

Patches of clouds are anticipated in Benue, Kogi, and Kwara during this period.

The Inland of the South is projected to have patches of clouds throughout the forecast period, with isolated thunderstorms likely over parts of Edo, Ondo, Ogun, Lagos, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states in the afternoon and evening hours.

On Tuesday, NiMet expects moderate dust haze with a horizontal visibility range of 2km to 5km over the northern and north-central regions.

Patches of clouds are forecasted for Kwara, Benue, and Kogi.

In the South, patches of clouds in the morning are anticipated, with isolated thunderstorms expected over various states in the afternoon and evening.

Wednesday’s outlook suggests a slight dust haze over the northern region, with patches of clouds in a hazy atmosphere over the north-central region.

Isolated thunderstorms are expected over parts of Plateau, Kwara, Benue, and Kogi states later in the day.

Patches of clouds over the inland of the South and the coast are predicted in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms expected in several states later in the day.

NiMet advises caution for people with respiratory issues and recommends wearing face masks when possible.

It also suggests warm clothing for children and the elderly during the night, adding that it is important to moisturise the skin and lips.

Airline operators are urged to obtain updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning of their operations.
