AFCON: Osimhen Declared Fit For Semi-Final Against South Africa

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been declared fit for the upcoming AFCON semi-final clash against South Africa, News About Nigeria reports.

The announcement was made by Team Media Officer Babafemi Raji on Tuesday, stating that the African Player of the Year had joined the team in Bouaké and participated in training with the squad.

Raji revealed that Osimhen has been cleared as fit and is available for selection in the game against South Africa.

“Victor Osimhen has been declared fit and available for selection in the semi-final clash against South Africa on Wednesday.

“He has joined the team in Bouaké and has trained with the squad today,” the statement read.

The Super Eagles media team had earlier mentioned that Osimhen would be monitored in Abidjan while other players in the squad headed to Bouaké, where the semi-final match is scheduled to take place.

“We will fly from Abidjan to Bouaké today via a 10 p.m. Air Cote d’Ivoire flight. If cleared by tomorrow morning, he will join the rest of the squad before 5 p.m.,” the team said in the statement.

In a related development, Nigerians residing in South Africa have been cautioned to exercise caution during the AFCON semi-final match between the Super Eagles and Bafana Bafana and to refrain from provocative celebrations if Nigeria wins.

The advisory, issued by Nigeria’s High Commission in South Africa, highlighted potentially inflammatory online comments made by some South African citizens and urged Nigerians to maintain good conduct and report any provocations to the appropriate authorities.
