Gunmen Kill Two Immigration Officers In Kebbi

On Wednesday, the Kebbi State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) confirmed the gruesome murder of two of it’s personnel by unknown gunmen.

News About Nigeria reported that some unknown gunmen who are suspected to be bandits on Monday attacked and killed two immigration officers identified as, Isah Nafui (DSI 34057) and Garba Haruna Fana (NIS 17796) at the Kangiwa border, in the Arewa local government area of Kebbi State.

While confirming the tragic incident in a statement released by the Public Relations Officer of the State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service, DSI Abdullahi Isah disclosed that the gunmen who came in a group launched an attack on the officers while they were on duty.

He further stated that the gunmen started their attack on the officers at the entry point in Gari Garba, 12 kilometres away from Kangiwa town, and took down two of their gallant officers who were on duty at the border.

The Command PRO further noted that the deceased have been buried according to Islamic rites.

While mourning the gallant officers who, according to him, were dedicated and served the nation to the end, the PRO sympathised with the families of the deceased, noting that the Immigration Service would ensure that the perpetrators of the heinous act were brought to book.

Isah further stated that an investigation has been launched to fish out the killers of the ‘gallant officers.’

He also stated that the attack on the officers would not deter them from their unwavering commitment to maintaining border security and preventing criminal elements from infiltrating the region.
