Troops of Operation Desert Sanity in Maiduguri, Borno State, have reportedly arrested three soldiers for allegedly stealing 374 ammunition rounds.

News About Nigeria reports that the soldiers were arrested during an operation at motor parks along Njimtilo Road in Maiduguri.

According to a source from the military, two of the soldiers were heading to Markudi, Benue State while one was travelling to Abuja.

The source disclosed that one of the soldiers who was with 250 rounds of 7.62 MM and was travelling to Markurdi, Benue state concealed the ammunition in a bag of rice.

Another soldier who was also on his way to Makurdi was arrested with four fully loaded magazines and 110 rounds concealed in a mudu of rice.

The last soldier who was headed for Abuja was arrested with 14 rounds of 7.62MM.

The suspects are reportedly in custody while further investigation is ongoing.

In another related development, the police authorities in Imo State have arrested the suspected killers of a Divisional Police Officer and an Inspector at Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of the state.

According to the Imo state Commissioner of Police, Danjuma Aboki, the police in the state are committed to ridding Imo of terrorists.

He further disclosed that the relentless efforts of the police and other security operatives in unravelling the killers of the police officers led to the invasion of the Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network camp at Umuohie in Ngor Okpala LGA of the state.

Danjuma also noted that while several terrorists were dislodged, several arms and ammunition were recovered from the miscreants.
