Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality show star Pere Egbi has warned shippers to desist from sending him flowers with fellow BBNaija star Mercy Eke’s name, News About Nigeria reports.
The actor recently took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to clarify the nature of his relationship with Mercy Eke.
Pere refuted the widespread speculation of romantic involvement with Mercy and urged fans to refrain from addressing them as partners.
Pere expressed gratitude for the care and attention from fans but stated that he is not dating Mercy Eke.
He wrote, “Dear shippers, while I appreciate your efforts and care from inception, I would love to be clear on one thing: I am not dating Mercy Eke. So please cease with the flowers mentioning her name. This is as concise as I can be.”
The clarification comes after fans speculated about a romantic relationship between Pere and Mercy, particularly due to their close bond during the BBNaija All Stars show.
Pere had previously shared insights into his connection with Mercy during an interview.
He revealed that Mercy’s dedication to her faith played a significant role in forming a bond between them.
Pere mentioned discovering Mercy reading her Bible in the Big Brother house, which left a lasting impression on him.
“On her bed was a small bible; that night, I took a peak in the blue room and she was reading the bible. When you see Mercy, you won’t think she’s the type of person who is that spiritual with God. And every time, you see her praying every day.”
Despite the intimacy observed between Pere and Mercy in the BBNaija house, Pere stated that their relationship was a ‘genuine authentic friendship that could lead anywhere’.
