Following the lingering crisis in Ondo, the Ondo State House of Assembly has said the deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, must submit an undated resignation letter to President Bola Tinubu, News About Nigeria reports.
This call was made during its first plenary session on Tuesday, following last Friday’s meeting with Tinubu in Abuja.
The speaker of the Assembly, Mr Olamide Oladiji, disclosed that Aiyedatiwa was asked to write an undated resignation letter and submit it to the President.
He noted that this was part of the resolutions reached at the meeting with the president.
Mr Oladiji stated that he, along with a few others, including the Secretary of the Ondo State Government, Mrs Oladunni Odu, and the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Ade Adetimehin, had been appointed to ensure compliance with the resolutions.
He cautioned the members of the house and other stakeholders against violating the resolutions reached at the meeting with President Bola Tinubu.
Mr Oladiji further noted that the Ondo State House of Assembly, the State Executive Council members, members of the National Assembly from Ondo State, and the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress were all present at the meeting with the President.
He clarified that Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa remains the deputy governor and will continue to perform the functions of the office as deputy governor, adding that the party and House of Assembly leadership remained intact.
He maintained that they, as representatives, were not acting on their own accord but within the jurisdiction of the mandate given to them by their constituents.
