INEC Presents Certificates Of Return To Kogi Governor-elect, Deputy

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Friday, presented certificates of return to the Governor-Elect of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, and his running mate in the election, Joel Salifu.

The certificates of return were presented at the INEC headquarters in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital.

News About Nigeria had reported that Ododo of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was declared the winner of the November 11 off-cycle governorship election in Kogi State by INEC.

The APC candidate won the election, having polled 446,237 votes to defeat Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party, who came second with 259,052 votes, while Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party came third with 46,362 votes.

The governor-elect, who spoke after receiving his certificate, appreciated the people of Kogi state for believing in his mandate and for voting for him in the election.

He also promised to make good of his office as governor by ensuring that he delivered on his campaign promises and by also building on the achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello during his tenure.

He further pledged his administration’s commitment towards empowering youths and women in the state.

He also noted that his administration will be committed to ensuring that education is prioritized in the state.

Ododo further added that his administration would be an all-inclusive administration, where everyone in the state, irrespective of tribe, religion, and political affiliation, will be carried along.

He, therefore, appealed to the people of the state to partner with him towards building Kogi, so they can achieve greatness together.
