Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has reacted to the news of the death of singer Oladipupo Oladimeji Oladipupo, professionally known as Oladips.
He expressed his condolences to the family, friends, and fans of the deceased.
Oladips passed away on November 14th, 2023, as videos of him collapsing and being surrounded by his friends were posted on social media.
Reno Omokri took to his Twitter account on Wednesday to mourn the singer.
He expressed his concern about the similarities in the manner of Oladips’ death with that of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad.
He prayed for the family of Oladips and asked God to give them the strength to bear the loss.
Omokri also urged the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria to provide their members with good and quality healthcare with the HMOs. According to Omokri, there is a need to increase awareness among the entourage of these artistes on what to do in an emergency.
“We do not need tributes for our artistes. We need long lives for them. It is a significant loss to Nigeria when young, talented entertainers, capable of rebranding our image internationally, meet untimely deaths.”
He urged the government and other relevant authorities to take necessary measures to protect the lives of artistes, who are the country’s pride and joy.
Omokri added that the industry has lost several young talents in recent years, and it is high time that the relevant authorities took concrete measures to prevent such tragedies from happening again.
“May God grant the family, Oladips, and fans the fortitude to bear the expressed loss,” he concluded.
