A pastor, identified simply as Moses and one other person, have been arrested by men of the Lagos Police Force for allegedly stealing $500 belonging to a customer.

News About Nigeria gathered that the acclaimed pastor was said to have pilfered $500 from a bunch of $5,000 given to him to convert by one Lukman at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja, during the weekend.

Giving his statement to the Police, the pastor admitted to stealing the money, saying he was only given N10,000 at the end of the transaction. “We agreed to settle the matter amicably”. He said.

Narrating his ordeal, the victim said he was trying to help his mother change her money and met the men after he got to the Airport Hotel.

According to him, his details were taken and the money handed over to them, after which he went to monitor the transaction in his car but was distracted after another member of the gang showed up.

The victim maintained that he was prevented from counting the money after they informed him the rate, which was agreed upon, would no longer be possible.

“I went into the toilet to confirm the money. I counted it and $500 was missing. Before I could come out, they had run away. The security told me he saw them rushing out of the bank. He lamented.

“I went to where I met them but didn’t see them. It was on the third day that I saw Edwin and I invited the police”.

The suspects have, however, been remanded and are awaiting trial.
