Economic Hardship: President Tinubu Orders Immediate Release Of Grains To FCT Residents
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has revealed plans to spend at least 6.9 Billion naira on State House vehicle procurement, with the Office of the First Lady receiving N1.5 billion for new automobiles.
News About Nigeria gathered that this request was contained in the President’s  Supplementary Budget, which was submitted to the National Assembly for approval.
The supplementary budget, which totals N2.17 trillion, was earlier on, submitted to the National Assembly for Approval.
According to the budget, the government plans to spend N2.9 billion on Sport Utility Vehicles, SUVs, for the Presidential Villa and another N2.9 billion on replacing the cars in the pool.
In addition, Tinubu also plans to spend N28 billion on the State House and N12.5 billion on the Presidential Air Fleet.
This proposed expenditure is coming amid protests by Nigerians against the decision of the National Assembly to procure N75 billion worth of vehicles.
These protests, staged by young individuals in Lagos and Abuja, have highlighted the public’s concern regarding the economic hardship faced by Nigerians.
Similarly, the State House is also expected to receive N28 billion from the Supplementary Budget, while the Presidential Air Fleet has been allocated N12.5 billion.
Mention should be made of the fact that this allocation for vehicles is coming at a time when Nigerians are grappling with economic challenges, which has led to increased scrutiny of government spending.
As the debate on the Supplementary Budget unfolds in the National Assembly, it remains to be seen how this proposed allocation for vehicles will be received by lawmakers and the general public.
