Popular Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, are overjoyed as they embrace parenthood, welcoming their first child into the world.

News About Nigeria reports that the announcement was subtly made through a new music video posted on Mercy Chinwo’s Instagram page on Friday.

The singer, known for her inspirational and soul-stirring songs, revealed the title of the new song, ‘You Do This One’, while emphasising that it’s part of her upcoming album, ‘Overwhelming Victory’.

In the same post, she expressed her family’s gratitude, stating, “Indeed, YOU DO THIS ONE.”

In a heartfelt caption, she said, “Lord, we are grateful; we approach Your throne with heartfelt songs of praise and thanksgiving. You’ve filled our hearts with joy, our lips with testimonies, and our home with celebration. Indeed ‘YOU DO THIS ONE’.”

Mercy Chinwo and Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, who had a grand wedding in August 2022, have now embarked on this beautiful journey of parenthood.

Their relationship has been a subject of interest in the media, particularly after the singer’s engagement was announced.

It was during this time that a video of Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa referring to Mercy as his sister during a church service surfaced. This led to online speculations and some accusing the couple of misleading the public.

Addressing these comments, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa gave a light-hearted shoutout to the online community during a church service that had singer Banky W in attendance.

He emphasised that the term ‘sister’ was not a deterrent, as he also saw himself as a brother, and he encouraged men to choose among the sisters when they are ready to settle down.

“Special shout out to the online in-laws. And those who made it in person, God bless you. I know Mercy is watching this thing right now, I love you Mercy,” the Westbrook pastor said.

“They dug up my old message where I said she is like a sister. I’m a brother. Am I not a brother? We are sisters. When it’s time to get married, look among the sisters and pick. Pick a sister, who do you want to pick before?”
