The aviation minister, Festus Keyamo has charged the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and that of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar to congratulate President Bola Tinubu following his victory at the Supreme Court.

Mr Keyamo in a tweet after the Supreme Court verdict, emphasized that it is time to focus on nation-building.

“What is now left is nation-building. The other Presidential candidates must now call President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and congratulate him as true patriots. We as patriotic citizens must also now close ranks to help steer our country in the right direction. I wish all of us well,” Mr Keyamo wrote.

News About Nigeria had earlier reported that the Supreme Court struck out appeals by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar, and his Labour Party (LP) counterpart, Peter Obi.

The apex court, in its ruling, also declined Atiku’s request to admit fresh evidence in the forgery case brought against Tinubu.

The aviation minister alleged that the petitions brought against the election of President Tinubu were pursued with unnecessary venom and hatred by most of those involved.

President Tinubu was announced as the winner of the 2023 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Both Obi and Atiku had approached the Presidential Election Petition Court, as they both sought to lay claim to the country’s presidential seat.

However, the Tribunal struck out petitions by Obi and Atiku against the election of President Tinubu. The opposition parties however approached the Supreme Court, with Atiku presenting fresh evidences in the forgery allegations brought against Tinubu
