Nigerian comedian and actor, AY Makun, has received recognition from the city of Houston, USA, for his contributions to promoting innovation, creativity, and cultural diversity and development.

News About Nigeria reports that AY, best known for his role in ‘Merry Men’, shared the news on his Instagram page, expressing his gratitude to the Houston State Council members, led by Michael Kubosh, for the honour.

AY compared the recognition to a ‘title belt’ and promised to continue his hard work and dedication to the entertainment industry.

“Earlier this year, I was blessed with the highest honours or awards that a citizen can receive from his or her country for their contribution to national development.

“The Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) was also followed with another national award as the Most Outstanding Comedy Personality of A Decade.

“Once again, permit me to celebrate another recognition and appreciation of the AY brand by the CITY OF HOUSTON USA for promoting innovation, creativity, and cultural diversity/development.

“I want to thank Michael Kubosh and all Houston State Council members in the United States of America for prestigious recognition. I will surely treat it like a title belt and do all I can to defend it with my continued hard work and dedication to the entertainment industry. I feel so honored, and I do not take this for granted,” he wrote.

Earlier this year, AY was honoured by the Nigerian government with the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) and the title of Most Outstanding Comedy Personality of A Decade.
