Nigerian music sensation Ayo Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, has been seen in a sombre state as he participated in a candlelight procession dedicated to the memory of his late mother.

News About Nigeria reports that the musician recently lost his mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, under undisclosed circumstances, which left him in profound sadness.

The singer returned to Nigeria to attend the burial of his beloved mother, slated for October 12, and he also took part in the candlelight procession, which was held on October 11.

Despite being surrounded by well-wishers and family members, the artist appeared deeply affected by the loss.

During the procession, Wizkid’s sister was seen comforting him as he processed his grief.

Fans and friends of the global Afrobeats star also came together to honour the memory of Wizkid’s mum.

Many supporters chose to pay their respects by participating in a procession, dressed in all black and carrying a framed photograph of the late Jane Dolapo Balogun.

In 2014, Wizkid released the song ‘Mummy Mi’ as a part of his ‘Ayo’ album, dedicated to mothers around the world.

In the song, he celebrated Jane for the joy she brought into his life and pledged to shower her with the finest things life could offer.

The loss of his mother also led to the cancellation of Wizkid’s highly anticipated ‘More Love Less Ego (MLLE)’ album tour.

Initially rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances, the recent passing of his mother prompted Wizkid to officially call off the tour, which was originally planned for the fall of 2023 (September to December).
