The Presidential candidate of Labour Party at the 2o23 presidential election, Peter Obi has charged Muslim faithful to pray for lasting peace in the nation as they celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammed.

Making this call in a statement released on his official X account Mr Obi emphasised that prayers were needed to tackle the many challenges contending with the country.

Mr Obi said that the celebration was an opportunity for sober reflection and deep intercessions for divine intervention in the many challenges facing our nation on all fronts.

“Let us today, pray for lasting peace in our nation, and in keeping with the Holy Prophet’s teachings, continually extend brotherly love to our countrymen, especially the poor, irrespective of tribe or religious beliefs,” a tweet by Mr Obi read.
According to the former Anambra governor, the country was facing challenges ranging from disunity among the people, extreme poverty, high rate of unemployment and high level of insecurity.
His comment comes as Muslim faithful across the world celebrate prophet Muhammed’s birthday.
News About Nigeria recalls that On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu encouraged Muslims all around Nigeria to pray for the country, saying that it is at a critical time as his administration takes “all necessary measures to make the country secure and economically viable.”
Tinubu wished Muslims in Nigeria and elsewhere a happy Eid-el-Maulud and urged them to follow the precepts of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

He advised using the time for intense reflection and passionate prayers rather than simply celebrating the Holy Prophet’s birthday.
