Iyabo Ojo Speaks Out Against Pressure For DNA Test On Mohbad’s Son

Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has taken a firm stand against those pressuring Omowunmi, the widow of the late singer Mohbad, to undergo a DNA test to confirm the paternity of her son, News About Nigeria reports.

In recent times, there have been calls from various quarters for the singer’s widow to conduct a DNA test on her five-month-old son to prove his biological connection to Mohbad.

One businessman, Larry Omodia, even pledged a substantial sum of N10 million to support the widow in conducting an ‘all-expense paid’ DNA test if she agreed.

Iyabo Ojo, however, strongly criticized these calls for a DNA test, labelling them as ‘insensitive’.

She made her sentiments clear in an Instagram Live session, urging people to allow Mohbad’s family the space to mourn their loss.

The actress said that the decision to conduct a DNA test should be made by Mohbad’s parents if they deemed it necessary, and it was not within the purview of outsiders to insist on it.

Iyabo Ojo emphasised that Mohbad had never publicly denied the child’s paternity, and if authorities involved in investigating his death felt a DNA test was required, they would pursue it accordingly.

In her plea, she implored for empathy and sensitivity in dealing with the grieving widow, Omowunmi, and called for an end to the pressure and scrutiny she was facing from the public.

“All these distractions of DNA test, you people should please allow Mohbad’s family to mourn. If Mohbad’s parents want a DNA test, they can request it. You and I don’t have the right to tell them to do a DNA test.

“Mohbad never told anyone that his son wasn’t his son. But if the officers investigating his death feel there is a need to conduct a DNA test, they will. We need to be very sensitive, please. Why are you guys bullying the poor lady [Mohbad’s wife]? Leave her alone.”
