The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, on Friday sympathized with the family of Labour Party’s Chieftain, Maduka Zachary who was beheaded by yet-to-be-identified assailants in his home in Uturu Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Governor strongly condemned the killing of Zachary describing his gruesome murder as insane, barbaric, and vicious.

Otti, therefore, promised that the government would stand by his family and give them all the necessary support required as they deal with the sad loss, News About Nigeria reports.

The Governor also charged security agents from different security agencies to swing into action and ensure that whoever was involved in the killing, directly or indirectly is brought to justice and made to pay heavily for their ungodly action.

Otti, who expressed sadness over the painful death, stated that the late Zachary distinguished himself during the last general election as the Labour Party campaign manager in Uturu and played active roles as a community leader in fighting kidnapping.

He added that his life was cut short when he was supposed to reap the fruits of good governance being initiated by the LP government.

He also pledged his unwavering commitment to ensuring absolute protection of life and property in Abia State in particular and South East in general, which according to him, necessitated the recent launch of a joint security Taskforce codenamed “Operation Crush”, an initiative that has caused a serious reduction in all kinds of criminal activities in the state.
