Manchester United have taken disciplinary actions on winger Jadon Sancho by excluding him from first-team training.

News About Nigeria gathered that the move follows a recent public exchange between Sancho and manager Erik ten Hag regarding the player’s inclusion in the squad that faced Arsenal before the international break.

The issue began when manager Erik ten Hag stated that Sancho’s performance in training did not meet the required squad selection standards. In response, Sancho vehemently denied the claims in a social media post that has now been deleted.

Sancho who joined Manchester United in a £73 million deal in 2021, returned to Carrington for discussions. The club has since made a brief statement indicating that Sancho will undergo a personal training program away from the first-team group while the discipline issue is resolved.

The statement reads, “Jadon Sancho will remain on a personal training program away from the first-team group, pending resolution of a squad discipline issue.”

The exchange between Sancho and Ten Hag stemmed from the aftermath of the match that saw Manchester United lose 3-1 to Arsenal.

When asked about Sancho’s absence from the squad, Ten Hag explained that his decision was based on the player’s training performance, emphasizing the high standards expected from players at the club.

However, Sancho was not satisfied by the manager’s statement and responded by defending his conduct in training and expressing his belief that there were other undisclosed factors at play.

He further mentioned feeling like a scapegoat, while stating his commitment to contributing positively to the team.
