Nollywood actress and media personality, Toke Makinwa, has suggested that men are not particularly fond of women who are excessively nice.
News About Nigeria reports that shared her viewpoint in the latest episode of her podcast series, TokeMoments where she had skitmaker and content creator Bukunmi Adeaga Ilori, known as Kiekie as guests.
During the podcast, Makinwa said, “Men don’t like women that are nice…”
Responding, Kiekie explained that her belief was that men appreciate it when women help them be more efficient and productive.
She shared an example from her own life, where she had to remind her husband to take their child to daycare because it hadn’t become a part of his routine yet.
“No, let me rephrase that. This is what I believe. For lack of a better word, I feel like when you know how to put a man to a nice use, then he is more functional. See, men like to be reminded what to do.
“We have a child, the baby will go to crèche. My husband knows that the baby needs to go to crèche but he will forget and hurry into the car to go to work. I will now remind him and he will be like, ‘Ah! I forgot.’
“It happened for about three weeks with me constantly reminding him to take her to school before that registered and became part of his routine,” Bukunmi said.
However, Toke Makinwa maintained her stance, stating that Kiekie’s husband might be more ‘compliant’ and that the majority of men don’t naturally operate in this manner.
