The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Friday, said that it would begin the distribution of uncollected Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, next week ahead of the Bayelsa polls.

News About Nigeria gathered that, the distribution is in preparation for the state’s Governorship election scheduled for November 11, 2023.

According to the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Obo Effanga, who disclosed this, the Commission is ready to conduct a free, fair and credible election.

He further called on eligible voters in the state who have not collected their PVCs to do so within the one-month distribution period of September 11 to October 9, 2023, scheduled by the commission.

According to Effanga, the PVC distribution by the Commission is to ensure that the people will be able to vote for their preferred candidates during the election without any restraint.

He explained: “In registration areas also known as wards, where we have more than 500 PVCs that have not been collected, those cards will be available at those registration area centers for the voters to collect their PVCs and the exercise will last from September 11 to October 10.

“Every registration area that has more than 500 cards that have not been collected, the owners of those cards can go to the registration area centers and collect their PVCs but where you have less than that, you have to go to the INEC office in the local government area.”

He, therefore, assured the people of INEC’s commitment to the conduct of a very good election that would take cognisance of what the constitution, the Electoral Act and their guidelines for the election said.
