In the wake of the recent tribunal verdict upholding President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 25, 2023, presidential election, the Leader of the Senate, Opeyemi Bamidele, has issued a call to politicians, emphasising the need for them to shift their focus towards governance.

Senator Bamidele took the opportunity to applaud the judiciary for prioritizing impartial judgment over emotional considerations by reaffirming Tinubu as the winner of the election.

News About Nigeria gathered that in a statement released by his media office, Senator Bamidele conveyed his congratulations to President Tinubu on the tribunal’s verdict.

“I also congratulate President Tinubu over the affirmation of his victory by the Tribunal. In the interest of our beloved country.”

He appealed to the petitioners to accept the tribunal’s decision and collaborate with President Tinubu to deliver on the “Renewed Hope Agenda” promised to Nigerians.

Senator Bamidele stressed that the era of politics had come to a close and it was now imperative for leaders to concentrate on the business of governance.

“I, therefore, urge the petitioners to join hands with Tinubu’s administration to deliver his ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ to Nigerians. Politics is over, it is now time for governance,” he said

He also commended the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal for its role in upholding the rule of law, stating, “The verdict of the Justices has once again reaffirmed that Nigerians overwhelmingly voted for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the February 25 presidential election.”

He concluded his statement by urging all stakeholders to unite for the betterment of the country, emphasizing that the time for political contests had passed, and the focus should now be on fulfilling electoral promises and addressing the nation’s pressing challenges.
