President of the World Trade Organisation Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has debunked claims that she is being heavily criticized for meeting with President Bola Tinubu.

Debunking the rumor in a tweet on Wednesday, Ms. Okonjo-Iweala described the statement credited to her as false, adding that it was an attempt to cause mischief among Nigerians.

“It has just been brought to my attention that there is a false statement circulating on what’s app attributed to me saying that I am being attacked for my visit to President Tinubu. That statement circulating is false, in fact wickedly false designed to create mischief among Nigerians. Please disregard the statement,” Tweet by Ms Okonjo-Iweala reads.

News About Nigeria recalls that the former minister of Finance met with President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday to discuss the country’s economic situation.

In an earlier tweet released on Wednesday, the former finance minister revealed that the president was focused on supporting the poor and vulnerable Nigerians.

According to her, she disclosed that her discussion with President Bola Tinubu also covered the need for Nigerians to work together towards a job-creating economy.

“Really good conversation with HE Mr. President@officialABAT  focused on supporting poor and vulnerable Nigerians at this difficult time. Also discussed the need for Nigerians to work together to build a strong job-creating economy including what  @wto can do to support!” she added. Her comments came as Nigerians continued to grapple with hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy.
