Popular Nigerian singer, David Adeleke better known as Davido, is facing a social media attack after promoting a music video by his new signee, Logos Olori, News About Nigeria reports.

The song, titled “Jaye Lo,” released by Logos whose real name is Olamilekan Emeka Taiwo has sparked outrage among Muslim fans.

In the video snippet shared on Davido’s Twitter page, Muslim faithful were seen dressed in white jalabia, engaging in prayer on their prayer mats.

However, the scene quickly transitioned to them dancing to the tune of the “Jaye Lo” song.

This portrayal of Muslim prayers turning into a dance scene offended some members of the Muslim community.

One of the critics, Bashir Ahmad, who is an aide to former Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari, expressed his disappointment.

He stated that mixing religious activities like Salah (prayer) with jokes is disrespectful and hurtful.

He emphasized the sacred nature of Salah and urged Davido to show respect for the Muslim faith.

Other Twitter users joined in expressing their disapproval, demanding that Davido take down the video and offer an apology.

A popular Arewa influencer, Sarki wrote:

“Davido @davido of all people should know that Muslims don’t joke around with their religion. To promote that video of his with Muslims praying is not only insensitive, it’s insulting. He should as a matter of urgency delete that video and tender an unreserved apology”.
