The youth leader of the People’s Democratic Party in Kogi State, Stephen Onoji has resigned from his position, News About Nigeria reports.

Ever since Senator Dino Melaye emerged as flagbearer of the PDP for the November 11 gubernatorial election, prominent chieftains of the party have been resigning.

Reports say the reason for the massive resignations is that they are not happy with the outcome of the party primaries.

Asides from being the youth leader of the PDP, Onoji was also a member of the state working committee.

Onoji’s resignation letter was submitted to his ward chairman in Odolu Ward 6, Odolu.

The ward is located in Igalamela Odolu LGA, on July 19, 2023.

In his letter, he expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity and privileges he had during his tenure as a member.

Meanwhile, 22 candidates alongside their running mates will be jostling for the highly coveted seat of governor.

Mr Ahmed Usman Ododo who is the anointed candidate of the incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello has been dragged to court by aggrieved aspirants who said he didn’t win the APC primaries.

A high court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday nullified the suit seeking to disqualify Ododo.

The aggrieved aspirant and APC stalwart identified as Abubakar Achimugu had asked the court to disqualify Ododo saying that he didn’t officially quit his job with the Kogi State public service 30 days before contesting the governorship primary.

However, Justice Obiora Egwuatu who delivered judgment on the suit said Ododo actually resigned before contesting in the APC primary election.
