Mixed Martial Art fighter Paddy Pimblett has announced that he is putting an end to his days of drastic weight gain and consuming 8,000 calories a day in between fights, News About Nigeria reports.

The Liverpool native aims to prioritize his health and maintain a more consistent weight going on in his career.

Pimblett candidly shared his plans, stating, “I am hoping to have another three fights and three wins in the bag by the end of next year and be ranked.”

However, he also acknowledged the misconceptions surrounding his weight, revealing that people often assume he has a fight coming up when he appears slimmer.

Pimblett clarified that his current physique is simply the result of recovering from surgery and gradually losing weight.

The fighter admitted that in the past, he would gain weight rapidly and consume excessive amounts of calories during his downtime.

However, following his recent surgery, Pimblett has experienced a natural decrease in weight. He currently walks around at around 84-85 kilograms without closely monitoring his diet.

Reflecting on his weight journey, Pimblett expressed his desire to never exceed 90 kilograms again.

Despite criticisms and assumptions about his weight and fight preparations, Pimblett remains unfazed. He said, “They can say what they want about me. I’m the one, as they say, putting my life on the line and getting in the cage.”

The fighter emphasized that outsiders often fail to understand the grueling process of weight-cutting and the challenges fighters face leading up to a bout.

Looking ahead, Pimblett plans to approach his weight management differently, aiming to keep his weight under control and avoid drastic fluctuations.

With six months until his anticipated return, he acknowledges the unpredictable nature of the sport and remains open to potential opponents and opportunities that may arise.
