Brazilian star Willian Borges da Silva commonly known as Willian has refused to accept Fulham’s one-year contract extension over poor terms of agreement, News About Nigeria understands.
Willian whose contract ends with the club on the last day of June 2023, is now considering other options after turning down the club’s offer.
The former Chelsea winger hoped to stay at Craven Cottage after a successful return to the Premier League following a spell back in his homeland Brazil.
He is insisting on a better wage structure if he must continue with the club but sadly, the London club seems unwilling to improve their offer.
However, the player who turns 35 in August, has also made himself available and now actively pursuing other Premier League offers as he looks to extend his stay in English football.
Willian started his career at Corinthians, before joining Shakhtar Donetsk in August 2007 for a fee of €14 million. In his six years at the club, he won honors including four Ukrainian Premier League titles and the UEFA Cup in 2009.
In 2013, he briefly signed for Anzhi Makhachkala before joining Chelsea for £30 million, winning the Premier League and League Cup in his second season in England.
He made his debut for Brazil in 2011 and was at the 2014 and 2018 FIFA World Cups, as well as the 2015 Copa América, the Copa América Centenario, and the 2019 Copa América, a tournament Brazil won on home soil.
He left Chelsea for Arsenal in 2020 and spent only one season at the Emirate stadium before moving to Corinthians in his home country, where he spent the rest of the 2021/22 season.
He joined Fulham in 2022 and helped the team remain in the English top-flight league for the next season.
