Kelechi Iheanacho escaped Samuel Chukwueze’s jibes on Monday during Super Eagles African Cup of Nations Qualifiers training on Monday, News About Nigeria reports.

A video that has since made rounds on social media platforms captured Chukwueze and Taiwo Awoniyi taunting each other over their performances in Europe.

Villarreal star, Chukwueze seems to have initiated the mouth strikes when he threw a training tool at Awoniyi while staring at him in the eye, probably to know his reactions.

Both laughed after a moment, with Awoniyi sarcastically calling him the boss. “Who I be, I don play against Real Madrid before? [Who am I, after all, I have not played against Real Madrid for the first time].”

But Chuwkuweze quickly reacted with a curse on the Nottingham Forest striker, but Awoniyi continued; “E easy to win the African Player of the Year award for the whole of Spain? [It is not easy to win the African Player of the Year award in the whole of Spain]”

This time, Chukwueze was already pushed to the wall and threw back at him saying, “E easy to score against Arsenal and Chelsea? [It’s not easy to score against Arsenal and Chelsea]”

Awoniyi isn’t giving up taunting Chukwueze as he went ahead to pull out a fellow player’s training mat to make Chukwuezes’ two, calling him “senior man [boss]”. Then, he shared his own mat with the player.

“Na now I know say two of una no get sense. Na now I know say people wey de England eh… [I can tell both of you are not well. No wonder people in England…]” Chuwkueze stopped abruptly, as he noticed Kelechi Iheanacho by his side.

Iheanacho is not a happy man at the moment as his side Leicester City was relegated at the end of the 2022/23 English Premier League season.

Senior man Kelv as he is popularly called kept mute throughout the conversation, something very unlikely of him, as he is a very lively and playful player.

His team will have to fight back their way to the EPL next season while playing in the English Championship.

The Super Eagles returned to camp for their first training session at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, in preparation for the AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone.
